This boat was a present by my father for my 14th or 15 th birthday. It has been in my own home for years and years ( how may years exactly I rather not tell, but be assured some decades have past since). It went to Uni with me, moved with me to my very first flat, my very first house, to Brussels, back to The Hague and when we moved into the house we live in now, it has held a prominent place on my bookshelves for many years. But no, that era comes to an end. In the current ongoing reshuffling in my home, the decision was taken that this ship had to sail to new horizons.
It is a Wilkins cast iron passenger steam paddle boat from around 1910. Still in its original paint with some touch ups in places.
And if you ride with it, and it still works perfectly, it looks like it is riding the waves, because the wheels, hidden behind the paddles on the side are not fully round.
Dimensions: h 14 cm, w 38.5 cm, d 10 cm.
