Old carved coconut , Africa, 1930
I do not even remember how and where I bought this idiot coconut. I think I bought it at some estate sale, once. It has lived for quite some time in my own house. Just because I thought it was a nice quirky little thing. It was standing on my desk, working as a paperclip/elastic bands/stamp holder. Like a little box almost everybody has on his desk, filled to the brim with 'handy stuff' but also with lots of dust and lint after a couple of years. But this coconut box is just a bit nicer than the usual 'paperclip boxes'.
But I bought myself a new desk and it included a new little box for the paperclips. So off it went, to the shop.
What I do know is that it is handcarts, comes from Africa (which country I do not dare to guess) and is from the 30's. (I was told by somebody who can know these kind of things)
Dimensions: h 15 cm, diameter 11 cm.
