Yes, I know, this painting is standing on the very thin line between art and kitsch. But what parent, sound of mind, would commission a portrait like this from his or her child?  Apparently there was someone  a long time ago. Because when you turn the painting you see written on the back of the frame:  Famil Kreitner, Broekstraaat 29 " and the words any dealers loves; "paid in full ".

 

So yes, we must assume that this was once somebody's child. I think it is a girl. Forever crying and with a tear rolling from her eye.

I can not imagine why the parents wanted their sweetypie portraits like this. But presume this girl lived a very long and happy life. But when both her parents had put their sweet heads to rest forever, she came in the house and took the painting from the wall and got rid of it immediately.
