Sound and heavy wooden mirror, Dutch antiques, 1920
This is a very good example of sound Dutch construction, this little mirror. Sturdy in all the details, the oak frame, which makes it heavy. . I think there were some touch ups of gold in places but I am not quite sure. Anyhow, if they were there, they have faded away. Still it's original glass inside, which is just a touch too thick. And still it's original back cover.
Because in some parts of the Netherlands, things were build to last. And this mirror is a prime example of that.
And because of all it's robustness, it is much heavier than you might think by looking at it.
