Sconce with a mirror, once put together from different parts, France, part 1930, part 1890
Bought this sconce at an auction. Was very happy with it (still am) but when I picked it up and took a better look at it I couldn't help but laugh. Because this is the product of a very creative mind and a handy man on top of that. It is composed of an old mirror from the thirties with a pair of candlesticks soldered on it. The mirror is brass the candlesticks are bronze.
It has once even been a lamp, when you turn it over you can see still the remains of the electrical system on the back.
But still, it is a sweet decorative thing.
