Double sided painting, hunting scene and a still live
What happend here? Jalousie between two competing painters? Of a simple lack of funds for one of them?
Fact is that this painting has been painted on both sides. The front, the 'good side' so to say, shows a hunting scene. Without any blood or shooting. But just hounds, horses and riders, ready for the hunt. And this might be the good side of the painting, but for a real good painting you have to turn it over.
Because the back has been painted on as well. By a rather good painter, in my humble opinion. It shows a nice still-life in beautiful colours and very well painted. (Beter than the front to be honest)
But how did this come about? I really do not know. May be the 'good' painter ran out of money but still had this urge to paint. So he took a painting from the wall in his grandmother's home and started painting away.
Fact is, we can now offer you a "two for one" deal, just like the big shops do.
