Antique jardinière, cast iron, France, 1920, two tears but a lovely patina
This one had a rough wild but very nice life. The first decades of its life it spent in the south of France, and after reaching middle- age it moved to the Netherlands. Where once again it lived a happy life in a nice garden with view over the lake. But unfortunately along the way, somebody either French or Dutch did not take good enough care of it. There are vertical tears at both ends. Probably frost damage. Normaly it isn't a problem for cast iron to withstand deep frost, but for this one it was just a bit too much.
It really is a pity but it is still a very decorative and beautiful little thing. And the tears are taken into account into the price. It is a lovely little thing, stunning patina and standing on sweet little legs, will be a nice extra in your garden.
