Art Deco pen holder, little Lobby Boy, ceramics, in bright colours, from the UK, around 1930.
Yes, of course I know that this little trinket is not a pen holder. It used to be of service as a toothbrush holder. But who still uses one of these old fashioned non electrical tooth brushes, that would fit in the slots of this thing? I, for one, made to switch to full eclectic brushing a couple of decades ago and there is hardly any one in my circle of acquaintances that hasn't made a similar switch. Maybe while on holiday, climbing the Kilimanjaro after leaving base camp, then I would bring an old school tooth brush. But on every other occasion, I use my full powered electrical one.
So, what to do with this sweet little Lobby Boy annex toothbrush holder? And I thought, by looking at the slots on top of the thing, that it would make a splendid pen holder. And maybe for a nicer pen than the rather common bic I put in it for the photo. But I think it would lovely with a nice old fashioned pen in it, on your desk.
And to ad still more sparkle to your desk top, how about the little tray, shaped like a Pierrot as a little paperclip tray to join the little Lobby boy. They will make a beautiful pair. And if you buy them both, you get a discount.
