My mother gave me this piece of cloth. An antique mud cloth, from Tanzania. And if I really set my mind to it, I would be able to remember which tribe. But I am not in the mood right now.
"Maybe you can turn it into a lamp shade", she said. Had to think about it for a bit, but I came to the conclusion that she was right. Meanwhile I have even turned the cloth into two lampshades and I still have a piece left for a third. The other one you can find somewhere else here in the webshop.
Mudcloth has a rather rough structure and are weaved by hand and afterwards the pieces are sawn together also by hand. That explains the seam you see in the middle of the shade.
The price is for the lampshade, the lamp you see in the photo's, can be found somewhere else in the webshop.
Dimensions: diameter 40 cm, height 26 cm.
