If they had been a bit older then they are, I would have called them 'bois d' oré', gilded wood. Because that is the technique that is used to give these lamps there golden glow, gold leaves on wood. But the words 'bois d'oré' I usually reserve for much older pieces, for 'real antiques'.
And these lamps are old, but not yet antique. But they are very cute. Now still with their original lamp shades, that are included in the price. Not that there is anything wrong with these shades, they are in good condition and will last your for years on end. But I have the plan to make some nice shades for these lamps myself, in rather bright coloured fabric. So after I have done that, the price will be up. Rather a lot, around 95 euro a piece.
But if you like them 'as is', or you rather make the shade yourself, or you rather have a shade made (don't call me, but I do have an adres for you where they can make them) than now is the time to buy.
Oh and just to be sure. The lampshade is mounted on the top of the base with a little screw.
It is a pair, but they can be sold separately.
