Antique mercury glass vases, painted with flowers, France, 1910
They still please me, every time I see them, these vases of what we in Holland call : "poor man's silver". Glass with a finish of mercury, so the shine like silver but are half the price.
This pair is really sweet, with the painted flowers. Flowers have faded a bit over the years and there is probably some domestic goddess to blame for that. So don't do it, scrubbing these vases every week with Cif and bleach. You will not have anything left.
They are about 100 years old and we brought them from France. .
