I found this kilim at an antique market in Andalusia, Spain, where I do a lot of treasure hunting for the shop. For various reason I love going there but the main reason is that you can still see the remains and influence of the former Moorish inhabitants everywhere. All the stuff I find there has just this little edge to it, just a bit different, with a bit more mystique.
Which also goes for this kilim. No, of course it is not from the Moorish era, not by a long shot. It is not even Moorish I think, but Turkish, judging by the pattern. But it does have that whiff of mystique from the Islamic culture that gives it just that little bit extra. And what about those colours? In real live even more beautiful and deeper that you can see in the photo's.
It just arrived on my doorstep, so it has to pay a visit to the 'kilimrepairguy' to fix the loose threads on the end. (see photo's) . But he can fix that for sure.
