Some say that almost every inhabitant of The Hague has at least one real 'Robert Lepeltier'. For sure if you went for a drink at Pulchri, the common room for local artists. Apparently the good man sat there, the whole day, just drawing. On paper, on beer coasters, on everything he could get his hands on. And most of them were saved by lucky finders.
But that doesn't change that he was a very gifted artist. His works are still in demand and they always depict a happy and merry scan.
Like this lady, a circus artist balancing on a ball. Maybe it is a set up for a later painting, maybe it is just a 'doodle' over a cup of coffee. But you have to admire the craftsmanship. Just a few lines and there she is, the lady on the ball. I couldn't do it.
Long story long, a very nice drawing and framed in a lovely old frame. Black with a little ribs and a small gold lining.
I mean, what is not to like?
