Vintage ceramic wine pitcher, hand painted, bright colours and decoration, Spain, around 1960-1970

Doesn't this jug remind you of summer. Even in winter. Long dinners outdoors. Friends around the table and this jug, filled with wine or water doing the rounds.
Even if you are in a dark mood, jugs like these, will brighten your day. And yes I know, these are not rare. And yes I know, they are still in production. Not only for tourists but also for Spaniards. Because they like them as well (otherwise they wouldn't make them)
And the fit in a long tradition of Spanish ceramics with a double purpose; to decorate houses with. On the wall, those stunning large dishes and bowls. And these, to brighten up your kitchen or your table.
But this is a lovely vintage one. I found it in Spain at the home of a collector. Just like his brothers that are living their beste live somewhere else in the webshop.
This one is marked 'Alicante 15' on the bottom. This does not mean that it was made in Alicante. But it does mean that is was sold in Alicante. These jugs were and are mainly made in Toledo. And the 15 is not a catalogue number but must be read as 1,5. Meaning the jug can hold 1,5 litre.
It is in good vintage condition but has a tiny chip on the pouring sprout and on the rim. You can see it in the photo's.
Dimensions: height 21 cm, width from sprout to handle 15 cm, diameter bottom 15 cm.
