How is it possible? Elsewhere in this webshop you’ll find another one of these slightly overweight little birds. And it almost never happens, but somehow I found yet another one, equally on the plus-size side. Remarkable, really.
I’m not quite sure what this little fellow has been eating, but he could easily have made do with half. A dose of Ozempic or a properly cold winter wouldn’t have done him any harm.
That said… he probably wouldn’t look nearly as charming. Because truth be told, that cheerful roundness suits him rather well. This one is made of terracotta and has the most beautiful patina, black, green, traces of algae… he has clearly weathered quite a lot.
At some point he must have been allowed indoors, judging by the little rubber pads still attached underneath. But eventually someone banished him to the garden. And he seems to have coped perfectly well out there over the years, so I imagine he’ll continue to do so for many years to come.
Lovely detailing on his wings and feet, a cheerful little face, and a handsome tail.
Dimensions: height 14 cm (approx. 5.5 inches), length 19 cm (approx. 7.5 inches), width 14 cm (approx. 5.5 inches).
