Almost antique large pot, terracotta, some chipping but no cracks, Spain, around 1930

The arrival of this pot (actually an olive oil jar) and his brothers during the snow period this winter, stirred the pot on Instagram. I pretended that these jars, from the most southern part of Spain, had become severely traumatised by the trip and their arrival in freezing and snow covered Holland. It was my best watched reel ever. You can still find it on my instagram account if you want to see it for your self.
That was in januari, but only now the first of the trio has found his way to my webshop. It took me a while before I managed to find the time to make them 'sale proof'. This one had a weird paper lining on the inside but that is gone now. The rim is missing a chunk (look at the photo's). It is an old damage and has been taken into account in the price.
It is rather a dark colour, probably because it has actually been used for the storage of olive oil that has gone in the clay. And I think it has been painted once upon a time. You can see some traces of paint in places. Dark grey and green.
There is a hole where the tapping point used to be. That has been closed with an old cork, which looks rather endearing.
It is a lovely stunning pot but old, which makes it vulnerable. I would not leave it outside in winter. Most certainly not if it starts freezing. It is almost a 100 years old. It has survived a civil war, WWII and the wild seventies. So if you buy it, you have the obligation to keep it save for the coming decades. So take good care of it. Please.
Can not be shipped by regular mail but for a small but reasonable fee, it can be delivered at your doorstep. Or you can come and pick it up in the ware house, always a pleasure to see you there.
Dimensions: height 60 cm, diameter top hole 28 cm.
